Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you charge for a pregnancy test?
There is absolutely no charge for any of our services. We believe women have a right to have comprehensive information about pregnancy options. That information should not come from someone who has a financial interest in the outcome of the decision made.
Do you do abortions?
We do not do abortions. We offer a lab-quality highly sensitive urine-based pregnancy test. We provide pregnancy confirmation through the use of ultrasound technology under the supervision of a healthcare professional. By providing accurate information and caring, confidential support, we are able to help women and men who are struggling with difficult decisions.
Do you provide blood tests?
No, the pregnancy test we offer is a urine-based test.
How soon can I tell if I am pregnant?
Pregnancy can be detected through a urine sample as early as 8-10 days after conception.
What are some of the indications that I might be pregnant?
The most common indication is a missed period. There are a number of other symptoms that vary among women. If you have missed a period you can make an appointment and come to Hope Women's Centers for a free pregnancy test.
Does Hope Women's Centers offer prenatal care?
We do not provide prenatal care but we have a network of referrals that will provide you with sources for necessary medical care.
Can you do a sonogram for me?
We do provide a limited obstetric ultrasound for clients who qualify. You must meet with a nurse prior to scheduling an ultrasound appointment.
When does it become a baby?
We realize that this is a question under much debate. Hope Women's Centers' philosophy is that life begins at conception. Science teaches us that the heart is beating at approximately 18 days and that the baby is fully developed by 10-11 weeks and just needs time to grow and mature, so it can survive outside the womb. We believe that given accurate information, each client is able to make a good choice.
Can you give me the 'morning after' pill?
We do not have any medications available at the centers, but we do have valuable information about the 'morning after' pill.
Is it possible to still have my period if I am pregnant?
It is possible for you to have a totally normal period and still be pregnant.
Do you offer testing for STD's?
No, we currently do not do STD testing. We can make the appropriate referral for STD/HIV testing.
Will you contact my parents or tell anyone that I came in?
No, we maintain strict confidentiality to the the fullest extent allowable by law in the State of Florida. We are glad to offer FREE counsel to your boyfriend/husband/parents if you would like to include them in the decision-making process, but that is YOUR CHOICE.
